Better Bonsai WorkshopParticipants will bring 2-3 of their Bonsai to the workshop. We will focus on styling, wiring, pruning, proper care and culture of each tree and season. There will be solutions to pest and disease problems. Time will be spent discussing each Bonsai, making decisions about its future and taking decisive action to advance its design.

We will place 7 to 15 trees into a shallow tray to create the perception of depth and serenity in a forest glade. There will be an in-depth discussion of how forests grow and the secrets of making the forest planting dramatic, believable and aesthetically pleasing. All materials are provided.

We will use trees that have been especially trained for this purpose. They have long roots with a lot of trunk development and are 10-12 years old. All materials are provided.

Root Over Rock (Class 2+)
For students who have completed Class 1 the previous classes; they are to bring their trees. This is the next step in the process. We will expose the roots and repot into the appropriate Bonsai pot. These compositions were begun one to three years ago.
