The trees are well-developed, 12-15 years old with the tendency toward this style. This is one of the more natural and dramatic styles in Bonsai.

 Little Leaf Linden Forest Grove Planting
December 8, 2007 (Saturday)

These trees are well developed and are 6-9 years old. They have nice trunks and are growing in the "oak tree" style. We will take three trees and place them together in a Bonsai pot so that the trunks will fuse in 2 or 3 years and the grove will become a dramatic multiple trunk Bonsai.

 Root Over Rock Maple (Class 1)

We will use trees that have been especially trained for this purpose. They have long roots with a lot of trunk movement and are 8-10 years old.

This is for students who have completed Class 1 the previous year/s; they are to bring their trees. This is the next step in the process. We will expose the roots and repot into the appropriate Bonsai pot. These compositions were begun 1 to 3 years ago.

Green Japanese Maple Forest

This is one of our most popular classes. We will place 7 to 15 trees into a shallow ceramic tray to create the perception of depth and serenity in a forest glade. There will be an in depth discussion of how forests grow and the secrets of making the forest planting dramatic, believable and aesthetically pleasing.

Create your Own Bonsai

Bring your own pot & tree or buy from our nursery. Create your own design based on tree selection. We will provide wire, soil and other materials.

 Amur Maple Shohin Forest
January 13, 2008 (Sunday)

These are 5-10 years old with great trunk movement, small leaves and wonderful fall color. We have been planning this class for the last 3 years and the materials are finally ready. Create a unique forest with 10-15 trees in glazed ceramic tray.

Students will bring one or more of their own trees, wire and tools. This time will be spent discussing the students' trees, making decisions about the future of each tree and taking decisive action to advance the design.

 Chinese Pistache Forest Planting

These are very colorful trees in the fall with palm-like leaves. Their show of color range from purple, gold, pink, red and everything in between. These are hardy trees, fast growing and easy to care for.

World-renowned Bonsai artist, Peter Adams is offering an extended learning experience for an 8-person cohort. One day every four months for three years working to advance the development of your Bonsai. Students are expected to continue to develop the same tree throughout the course.
